Counterspy not updating

I tried removing manually the keys that I can find. I tried using add/remove windows xp home program and that does not completely uninstall - I run to reinstall and all I get is the program in its current state even after reinstalling!

Using a registry cleaner such as jv16 Powertools or Ace Utilities, clean the multitude of registry items left over by the Counter Spy uninstaller.8. After I read your post, I ran a search and it has a fair amount of droppings still left in my computer.I deleted a Sunbelt folder off of local settings/application data just now. I also have 5 folders in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 that are Sunbelt that uninstalling Counterspy did not get rid of.Plus, of course, I have the entries in MSCONFIG Startup for Counterspy still there.Dear Counter Spy customer, We would like to confirm a false spyware detection that you may have seen with threat definition 497.Definitions 497 (released Friday evening) includes a file trace that is causing an unusual type of false detection for Trojan. I'm characterizing this detection as "unusual," because nothing is being removed. Those I should be able to get rid of in the registry. I haven't tried yet to get rid of the ones in System32.

I generally have to reboot before I can delete the Sunbelt program files. It still won't let me delete the folder in C\Program Files. Well, I have rebooted many times since I uninstalled it and ran Reg Clean. It is the best scanner but not everyone needs or wants real time protection. It still won't let me delete the folder in C\Program Files. I was running v 1.029 without resident protection with no problem. Can anyone confirm OR know which files should be removed for a totally complete uninstall? Here is what I do when I want to uninstall CS V1.0.29.1. Using Task Manager, kill the Counterspy/Sunbelt elements in memory.3. Check msconfig-Startup tab for leftover startup items for Counterspy. If there are any in there, remove them either with a program such as jv16 Power Tools or through manually removing them via regedit. This will be corrected in the next update to Counter Spy's definitions.
